On one hand Government’s across all states are handling Covid Situation and unlocking on the other hand Students are left in a lurch , specially in Mumbai and it’s suburbs around Western, Central and Harbour Railways have made no provisions for students to travel for admissions !!!
The Voice Of Citizens spoke to CPRO Western and Central Railway both on WhatsApp,both Shared the guidelines for Local Train Travel, but Railways being the implementer requires request from state govt authorities
CPRO Western & Central Railway both shared the Guidelines of issuing of QR Code for travel in Local trains but even in that for Students who wish to travel for admissions, State Govt of Maharashtra has not issued any guidelines on it as none exist in it !!
CPRO Central Railways Mr.Shivaji Sutar has stated : “ We are running selected Suburban Services on request of state government and also for essential staff as identified by state government. The QR code for station entry are being issued by state government authorities. Those who are having QR code issued by state government authorities are permitted to travel on Suburban Services.” So it’s very clear that unless the State Government formulates a Policy, Railways can’t implement anything on their own.
CPRO Western Railways Mr.Sumit Thakur stated : “Request have to be approved by state government then it will be communicated to WR. If state govt agrees to this request WR will permit”
Infact we also put out a word to Ministry of HRD , Mumbai Police,Home Dept, CMO Maharashtra via our twitter handle but none have responded as basically there has been no guidelines issued for travel arrangements for Admission process of Students !!!
We hope the Government of the State and HRD Ministry wakes up to these problems and finds a resolution, because most Colleges are working only for 2 days in a week and that too till 2pm so travel by road in Private Cabs is going to be a huge task financially and time consuming too.
