Maharashtra, Thane, 22nd Feb 2022, (MBMC) Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporations Property Tax Department is on a spree of disconnecting Water Lines of Societies in the twin city illegally !!
Yes you read it right illegally, why so ? Read ahead
MBMC raises property tax bills in the twin city individually or flat wise for building’s in it, cases have come up where there are say 30 member’s in a particular society and there are 2 or 3 official water lines of the society and there are few flats who have not paid there property tax, so MBMC is legally bound to raise a notice of default to those flat owner’s and if still unpaid can legally confiscate their property.
What MBMC does instead of it is shocking, Despite knowing that the water line is for the entire 30 flats MBMC to save legal hassles instead of taking legal action against defaulter flat owner’s is disconnecting water line meant for all 30 member’s !!
More so MBMC justifies this illegal action by printing such nonsense on the property tax bill itself where it threatens to disconnect water connections without prior notice to societies ! Evidence is below. To add salt to the insult and injury MBMC publishes this on it’s Twitter Handle, which shows that arrogance of MBMC towards the resident tax payers of the Twin city .
The above image is the back side print of a property Tax bill raised by MBMC which clearly shows the threat of disconnecting water line !! None of the Corporators, MLA Or even the MP has taken any action or opposed this illegality by MBMC.
Below are few Court judgements which prove the illegal disconnection of Water lines by MBMC.
Despite judgements of Courts clearly stating such acts as illegal MBMC is working on it’s own whims & Fancies due to which few societies have now decided to drag MBMC to court and will soon be filing a Writ Petition
As MBMC Property Tax Dept,Water Dept or anybody else have not replied to complaints sent via email to MBMC, including the Commissioner of MBMC, so the complainants will seek compensation and restraint on this illegal threat tactics of MBMC from the Court we will keep all posted of further developments on this issue.
