WESTERN RAILWAY’S RPF HELPS NAB A PERSON GIVING
FAKE ID CARDS FOR TRAVELLING IN SPECIAL LOCAL TRAIN SERVICES
Western Railway currently runs 1201 Special Suburban services for Essential Services Staff, women passengers during stipulated time and other categories as notified by Govt. of Maharashtra. Considering the present scenario of pandemic, WR has consistently advised that only specific essential staff categories as notified by Govt. of Maharashtra, should travel in these special suburban services. However, in the latest development in this regard, Western Railway has detected a person involved in giving fake ID cards & got him arrested.
According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations officer of Western Railway, RPF played a crucial role in the arrest of a person involved in giving fake ID cards to people for travelling in local trains. Western Railway’s RPF provided preliminary information regarding phone number and telegram message by accused and filed complaint in Vasai Road police station against him for making fake ID cards for travelling in local trains. Based on the same information, the accused who is a resident of Virar, was arrested on 11th January, 2021. A case was filed against him under Section 420, 465 and 468 of the Indian Penal Code.
Shri Thakur has requested the general public to cooperate with the present norms and follow the instructions given for their own safety. He said that travelling with unauthorized Identity Card, is a punishable offence. Hence, Western Railway appeals to passengers that only those specific essential categories, as notified by Govt. of Maharashtra from time to time should travel in these special local trains.
